The Next Big Thing Blog Hop.
Courtesy of the wonderful Ella Medler I am joining this Blog Hop today. Ella has us bringing to you a bit more about ourselves and here's some questions she has had me nervously answering for you all...
Q.1: What is the working title of your book?
Currently I am working on Snowdrops Wilt at Dawn - the second book in The Demonic Series, the sequel to Roses at Dusk.
Q.2: Where did the idea for the book come from?
Way back at the prequel stage with a teen romance series I am also working on - called The Castle Series. These books had a group of villians that - as I was writing about them, I realised they needed their own voice so the Demonic Series was born. It tells the story of how each of the Demonic Empire ended up as part of purgatory's hit squad.
Q.3: What genre does your book fall under?
Paranormal Suspence.
Q.4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Wow - that's difficult. Lucas is essentially almost albino and so I'm not sure who would fit the bill. Becky is easier - I think Emma Stone would suit her and Marcus - well anyone hot, with very dark eyes and hair and a bad attitude.
Q.5: What is a one sentence synopsis for your book?
"He left behind a mortality of misery only to replace it with an immortality of hate."
Q.6: Will your book be self published or represented by an agent?
As Roses at Dusk (Book 1) was self published I shall carry on in that vane. That being said - An agency in the UK has requested to see Snowdrops, so watch this space.
Q.7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Four months on this one. I am half way through the second re-write now.
Q.8: What other books would you compare this book to in this genre?
Honestly - I have trouble answering this as I haven't read any others was such a specific focus on the demon/mortal personality as this. Not because they aren't out there, I guess, but more that I am having so little time these days to read!
Q.9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?
In this case all the inspiration has come from the other stories themselves. Firstly - The Transient from the Castle series. There Lucas had a small cameo to play and then of course Roses at Dusk, I think also - there is a lot of work out there giving demons, vampires and the like wonderful endearing personalities when I wanted to show just how horrid they can be - so a slightly different take if you like.
Q.10: What else about the book might pique the reader's interest?
I think the main protagonist - Lucas himself. There's not a lot traditional about him. His strange, yet unusally apealling transparent look, his anger and determination and the ultimate question - how does a young boy like this end up in such a mess? Its gritty, unpredictable, but definitely enticing.
So there you have it - my answers to the Blog Hop List of curly questions. I shall pass you on to some amazing authors of mention!

Maree's Poetry Quest for Magic....
I've always loved poetry, but tended to shy away from it, fearing my inept attempts maybe laughed at, or scorned by those who see the classic medium as being unmarketable or too old.
But as you move forward as a writer, you soon realise that the art of poetry, with its descriptive prose and soul wrenching description, is in fact the cornerstone of how we write. If we can master this ancient art, our ability to bring to life our magical worlds of fiction, will grow wings and sore to places never before seen. The rhythmic twists and turns, colors and smells that the poet illustrates, gives life to stories, where before there was none.
Its fabulous to see not only a resurgence of this craft, but also the emergence of a new breed of poet, that brings the skill, with relevance to today, drawing in new readers.
I have had the recent privilege of not only reading but being pupil to such a Master of the prose.

He has been kind enough to indulge my virgining attempts and show me the shear skill involved through his ability to dance with words across a page.
So this week, I am going to start to post some pieces, that I shall bear to you - naked and new, for the entire world to see...

Maree's Poetry Quotes
"But from this façade, someday she shall rise. That ancientness of spirit, forged in history and a promise cemented in a kiss. For she has two paths both old and new, lost not broken and reliant on his breath. She is the essence of her man."
"I went to bed as a thorn, but woke as a rose, with the dew of time dripping from my petals."
"I sent a whisper on the wind and the magic of night gave way for the rainbow of morning, so that love was brought to me on nature's breath."
"And darkness fell. And with it came the whispers of the night, full of anticipation for what the stars might bring."
"And into shadow and with dust, night shall fall. I chase the dream that gladdens my heart and makes me yearn to live."
